Maybe it’s the coming of brighter, longer days or maybe it’s the fact that I will be vaccinated tomorrow, but things seem brighter and more cheerful this week. It’s been a long and difficult year, and I am looking forward to getting the chance to meet up with much loved friends and family in the not too distant future.

This change of mood can be witnessed in my art, these past few days I have had the urge to create fun whimsical pieces. It’s no secret that my art reflects my thoughts and emotions, and I have the feel of that warmth and connection I have missed, and I am painting that desire into my work. This is not to say that I am unaware of the bigger picture, of all that is going on in the world, but it is to say that I need time right now to focus on the positive, to give myself permission to live within that atmosphere of hope that seems to be spreading, at least in relation to the pandemic and the positive impact of vaccine programs.

I will soon turn my brush and mind to creating more thought provoking pieces again, as I am won’t to do when trying to come to grips with life’s difficulties and challenges, but for now the clouds are parting, the sky is blue and the future looks promising!
