Mothers day is creeping up on us, and in a year when many of us have not been able to spend time with our mums it is a very emotional day indeed. Do drop your mum a card, or send a wee gift if you can. Reach out and let her know that even though you can’t be with her in person she is very much in your thoughts. To help with that thoughtful card or gift, please do take a peep at what I have to offer this Mother’s Day to help mum feel special!

Here we sit, in the Emerald Isle, and as we approach the second Saint Patrick’s Day when we must forgo the usual parades and celebrations of being Irish, perhaps we might take time to send Patrick’s Day greetings to friends and family. Take this opportunity to reach out and connect with those we miss seeing and socialising with!
"Every now and again an artist comes along with something different."
This is one of my favourite pieces of Art in recent years, and is called ‘Purple Haze’ by Bailieborough based Artist Maria Jordan-O’Reilly. It captured my gaze at the Bailieborough Creative Hub, ‘Past Times’ exhibition for Heritage Week 2019 to the extent that I kept coming back to it again and again throughout the exhibition, and again in conversations with Maria, until eventually it became mine just before Christmas last year.
Every now and again an artist comes along with something different.
When I look at it I can almost see Hendrix on stage with his purple headband, tassled white shirt and white strat, and feel the opening chords to Voodoo Child or Foxy Lady reverberate out to me from the centre of the piece.
In the same way that it caught my eye last year,
it’s vibrant, almost psychedelic spirals stops visitors in their tracks,
curious to know the story behind it and the artist who created it.
It’s one of 4 beautiful pieces by Maria that I own, and I hope to add more in future.
I’ve been following Maria Jordan-O’Reilly – Artist for some time and have been totally mesmerized by the range of her talent. I particularly like her thought-provoking pieces and was delighted to finally procure one which will give pleasure for eons to come. Hopefully, it will be the start of my collection.
